Bay Acres Morgan Farm
Horses have been a part of our lives since the start. Well…sort of.
I was a horse crazy city kid with no access to horses but my walls were decorated with horses, my toys were horses, I played horses everyday at recess…yes I was THAT weird kid. But the bug never left. Well, while in college, my mom met a wonderful Morgan breeder who sold us our first horses. That was Troubadour, Beamer and Sisco. I was just 8 and it changed the entire course of my life. As a kid, we put thousands of miles riding on these three amazing boys. My best friend Megan would come over during the summer and we’d be gone from sun up til sun down, only breaking for water and maybe some lunch. Prairies, mountains, lakes, you name it, our horses have been there! Truly all a horse crazy kid could wish for.
Initially, breeding wasn’t ever something I wanted to do. But when I found Beamer’s lineage quietly disappearing, it lit a fire that has yet to dim. It’s built the herd we currently have and a driving force for more yet to come. Though as an adult with questionable soundness, I prefer life on the tamer side. While I was never able to show as a child, I picked up the beautiful sport of Dressage and haven’t looked back. I still take our youngsters out to traditional horse shows for exposure, but Dressage is where my heart lies and (in theory) my bones are safer.
Horses, like children, truly take a village. So while Bay Acres is a very personal dream of mine, there are so many people who have been apart of it. Some still with us, some we have bid a fond farewell. But to each and every person who has been apart of what is being built here, you are owed so much! My parents and their unwavering support of my dreams kept the fire alive. My sister, Katelyn, is always there to lend a helping hand (Or help me maintain sanity when injuries happen). My amazing trainers Donna and Mandy, who’ve seen every step of my journey for better education. And lastly, one of my lifelong friends, Bradley, who is often the person behind the photos of the Morgans here at Bay Acres. I would never be able to manage this without all of their unwavering support.
Now we’ve found ourselves currently settled in Billings, Montana but we are looking at some big changes in the coming years. For now, we couldn’t ask for a better place to raise our Morgans and live this crazy life with some of the most amazing people.
