Where to begin with Vegas? He was what really made our program here take shape. It was moving mountains to get him here but it was a leap of faith that paid off more than we could’ve ever imagined. Vegas is the kind of horse one feels privileged to be around, let alone own. He’s so sweet but still full of life in his golden years. He is the first stallion I have ever owned but he’s been a patient, kind teacher. To sum him up, he’s just a pleasure.

Vegas was bred by Gary and Maurena “Mimi” Horne of Pennsylvania. Under their ownership, he was shown at Penn-Ohio in 2001 where he would be champion yearling colt, champion JR stallion and reserve grand champion stallion. From there he was sold to Mike and Patti Postiglione, who’d stood his grandsire (Black River Leo) and leased his grandmother (Black River Circe) for many years as well as owning Vegas’ sire Essex Against All Odds. Under their stewardship, he would show up until 2008 alongside such greats as Mizrahi and Town Assets. His final appearance was in 2008 in the Citrus Cup he earned Champion 5 & Over stallion and Senior Champion stallion. In 2019, he would be crowned Top Ten Western Pleasure Sire in the Morgan breed.

Vegas will stand to the public in 2023 for the first time in several years. He is linebred to the incomparable Fleetwing along with multiple crosses to Polly Forrest. He has no crosses to In Command and only a single cross to Waseeka’s Nocturne through the ethereal beauty Troutbrook Playboy. The breeding behind him is potent and truly of blue blood. This is one of the last chances to access the tried and true Black River breeding. He stands a true 15.2hh barefoot. His PSSM1 test was negative and his color panel was eeAa.

His service fee for 2024 is 900$ with a non-refundable booking fee of 300$ that will go towards the total service fee. First shipment is $200. Subsequent shipments are billed at cost. Still excellent motility rates, even in his grand age!
