Kara is such a special addition to Bay Acres. She is leased to us for breeding and showing from my mother, Erin Gradwohl. Kara is a Canadian bred Morgan mare that was bred by Carmen and Lisa Klinkosz. Carmen holds a special place within our family. Without her, we would have never gotten into Morgans. Honestly, I’m not even sure if we would’ve gotten into horses. But, we’ll never have to know! Kara is the last direct relative to two of our geldings, Westwind Troubadour and Westwind Francisco, that is breeding on. That alone makes her an extremely sentimental part of our mare band.
Kara is well started under saddle and has seen plenty of trail miles, both here and in Alberta. We plan to continue her miles under saddle once her first foal is a little older. Kara has not yet had the opportunity to show but we anticipate her first show in 2025 under the stewardship of my sister, Katelyn. Hopefully my mom will get some time to show her next year, too! While Kara is JMF breeding, which is a line well-known for their trotting abilities among many other brilliant traits, her mind is truly what has us hooked. Kara is a mare with a heart the size of a country and she will do whatever you ask of her to the best of her ability! She has an active hind leg and a natural tendency to want to use her hindquarters, so we have high hopes she will be an excellent sport broodmare prospect!
Kara welcomed her first foal, BAMF Back To Eden, in May of 2024. We are going to keep her open so that her training can continue and she can get some show mileage under her belt! We are thrilled with her first filly and intend to retain her.
